The KRC Genk Foundation has received a 4-star label from the Pro League for the social policy conducted during the past season. This major award followed an audit of the various foundation operations of all Belgian professional clubs. For this, the Pro League joined forces with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Together with AA Gent, Club Brugge and OH Leuven, KRC Genk is among the best teams in the class.

"This is a club with performance-oriented and measurable projects, which is pioneering the Pro League's FSR landscape. Football Social Responsibility (FSR) is a core part of the club identity and this is widely known and recognised. As a result, the club has a sustained commitment to allocate resources to the implementation of the FSR plan," the Pro League's rationale echoed.

Pride to be able to give back to society

The four-star label also comes with a grant, awarded by the Pro League. The KRC Genk Foundation then wants to invest those funds integrally in the further expansion of the Foundation. The funds will also be used to guarantee the continuity of the many social projects that have already proved their worth in the past.

"After winning the FSR Project of the Season, with the KRC Juvenile Dementia Café, this four-star Pro League label is yet another reward for all the hard work of the past few years. As a football club, we live by the grace of society and the social fabric of Limburg. From day one in our existence, we as KRC Genk have made it a top priority to also give back as much as possible to Limburg and by extension the whole country. This award is an extra motivation to continue taking up our social role every day," concluded General Director Erik Gerits.
