KRC Genk's second summer transfer is a fact. After the transfer of Jarne Steuckers, Venezuelan Adrián Palacios is the second reinforcement to be added to our A-core.

The left-footed central defender, a rare profile in contemporary professional football, started his career with Titanes FC in the Venezuelan second division before making the move to Deportivo Cali in Colombia. That is also where ex-Genkie Jhon Lucumí previously received his training. After a running-in period with the U20s, the Venezuelan youth international became a permanent member of the A-team since January this year. The Genk scouting cell had Palacios on its radar for a while and decided in this off-season to go full steam ahead for the promising defender.

"Adrián possesses enormous strength which makes him strong in duels. The fact that he is left-footed is undeniably an extra asset in contemporary football. We look forward to seeing how he will further develop on Genk soil," echoes Head of Football Dimitri de Condé.

"KRC Genk is a big club. I am proud to follow in the footsteps of great players like Lucumí, Muñoz and Cuesta. I can't wait to fulfil my dream and show myself in Europe. I am determined to grab prizes with KRC Genk and show myself on the European stage," the latest Genk acquisition sounds ambitious.
